Thus far, AIME is composed of a staff of one: Daniel J. Carlat, M.D., who serves as
President, Treasurer, and Webmaster. He has created this website with $11.95 of his personal funds. As he discloses on his
Carlat Psychiatry Blog, he has the following conflict of interest: since he makes money by publishing an industry-free
CME newsletter (The Carlat Psychiatry Report), he stands to benefit financially if drug companies were banned from funding CME activities. But his primary motivation
is an idealistic one. He believes that physicians would be better educated, and patients would be healthier, if medical
education were free of a pharmaceutical industry agenda.
